New Leaf is celebrating signing up its 500th participant, 42 year old Jason Stokes from Congleton who got in touch after a friend recommended the project.
Jason is now working with his own New Leaf mentor and he is now preparing to start a fork lift truck driving course and is getting much needed help managing his money and benefits claims.
Andy Rawlins, New Leaf Programme Manager said: “We are delighted to have reached such an exciting milestone. We launched back in October, and since then our partners, mentors, community energizers and money advisors have tirelessly provided personalised support to everyone who has signed up.
Employment isn’t just about finding someone a job, it has many stages, and together we help people take back control of their lives step by step.”
Andrew Edes, New Leaf Mentor at Groundwork said: “New Leaf is different to other employment initiatives. All the agencies involved bring with them a wealth of experience and local knowledge.
With specialised help, training, mentoring and volunteering opportunities we provide a package of support that people really need.”
