Andy’s landscaping business continues to grow

Despite lockdown Andy has recruited more staff to his business and can see a bright future for himself.

Andy from Northwich had been out of work for 15 years after suffering a spinal injury and thought that he would never work again.

Referred his doctor Andy discussed his ideas, developed an action plan and received ongoing 1 -2-1 support from his Mentor and specialist business support. The overall package of support and guidance from New Leaf helped boost Andy’s confidence, motivation and self-belief which enabled him to move forward with his business idea.

Just as Andy set up Fair Oak landscaping Ltd the Covid 19 pandemic hit but this didn’t stop him moving forward. Andy found out that his local council had stopped green bin collections, and using his initiative obtained a waste disposal license to collect garden waste.

Andy’s business has grown from strength to strength and is now recognised as a local trusted landscape company. He’s bought a second van and has now employed two members of staff including his eldest son.

For the future Andy has won contracts in Bristol and Sheffield and plans to expand his business further recruiting another 3 members of staff.

Andy says:
“Just because you have a disability, don’t give up hope.  If I didn’t have New Leaf I wouldn’t have known where to start and would have still been at home moping. They listen to your ideas and guide you on the right road. I’ve never had that before, someone to believe in you. I know that they are there whenever they’re required, even to this day”.
