We love hearing feedback from our participants. Simon, who worked with our New Leaf team at Warrington Disability Partnership, took the time to write thanks to everyone who supported him during his time on the programme.
I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about my experience during my time with New Leaf.
Firstly, I want to say thank you to Jane, Nick, and Kevin for all the genuine kindness, compassion, understanding, and encouragement you have shown to me. For me, New Leaf was much more than a route to employment.
The mental health issues I have had left me quite isolated and with little motivation to change the direction that my life was heading.
From the very beginning it was clear to me that Jane, Nick, and Kevin genuinely wanted the best for me both in terms of wellbeing and employment, this in of itself gave me strength and motivation, just the very fact that they care makes a real difference.
Jane, Nick, and Kevin were always there to lend an ear, but more than that, I knew they were really listening, offering meaningful advice and words of encouragement. During the times that I experienced low points and was unable to attend I was never judged or written off, quite the opposite, it was more a case of “when can you next come in?”, and “what can we do to help?”.
This positivity is indicative of New Leaf. It is a natural positivity that was always apparent whenever I attended. No matter how I was feeling on arrival at New Leaf, without exception I always left feeling better. The atmosphere throughout is relaxed, cheerful, and positive, and for me, it was refreshing to see a group of people that work so harmoniously with each other, I certainly found that this was inspirational, and it had a direct effect on my own willingness to get out and about.
For me, New Leaf gave me a support network that I knew would not give up on me, and that were always true to their word. I was assisted on so many levels, from being linked up with Samina from the Citizens Advice Bureau to help with my finances and tenancy issues, to helping me attain interviews, and enabling me to get clothing for interviews, help with my C.V. and much more.
My involvement with New Leaf has been life-changing, I have now found suitable employment, I’m now secure in my housing thanks to Samina and Jane, and I definitely have a more positive approach to life in general.
New Leaf has had a direct and meaningful impact on my life and I feel fortunate to have been referred to New Leaf.
Thanks again to Jane, Nick, and Kevin, and to everyone involved with New Leaf, the work you do makes a real difference to people’s lives.
