Bev Conroy from Latchford in Warrington was referred to New Leaf by Golden Gates Housing Trust after enquiring about tenancy support.

Once enrolled onto the programme Bev was assigned her own personal mentor, Ashley Lewer, who said; “Through our discussions we agreed that Bev’s emotional wellbeing was our first priority. We then worked with other New Leaf partners to offer her a range of sessions, including confidence building, budgeting as well as 1-2-1 employment support.”

Every participant on the New Leaf Programme is supported to work through a personalised action plan, which ensures that they get the right help in the right way. This could include help with job centre appointments, school meetings or reviews with social service providers.

Bev who is now working part time as a Purchase Ledger Clerk, said “I have never had support like this before. New Leaf has given me the confidence to take back control of my life after some recent challenges. I have come such a long way in the last twelve months.”

Bev’s new job also fits in perfectly with her children’s school hours and she is financially better off each week too.

When asked if she would recommend New Leaf, Bev said, “I am living proof of what the New Leaf programme can do. It changed my life. I felt supported and listened to. The programme has given me the time to heal.”

Led by Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT), New Leaf is a dedicated three year project working with multiple partners across Warrington and Cheshire to support local residents into jobs, volunteering or further education and skills training. New Leaf is funded by the Building Better Opportunities programme, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund.
